DESCRIPTION:
This dataset contains data on employment in industry (including construction) in Latvia in 1925-2020 according to the Nomenclature of Territorial Units for Statistics codes of Latvia, status 2020 (NUTS:LV). The data contain information on the number of employed persons and their share in total employment. In the interwar period, the number of employed people increased slightly, but not from a very low starting point (in the First World War, almost all industry was destroyed). During the occupation period of the USSR, as a result of the industrialization policy, the number of employed people increased rapidly, but after the economic transformation in the 1990s, it decreased.
