DESCRIPTION:
This dataset contains data on GDP per capita in Lithuania in 1923-2023 according to the Nomenclature of Territorial Units for Statistics codes of Lithuania, status 2020 (NUTS:LT). In the interwar period, Lithuania's GDP per capita experienced a slight increase and, unlike Latvia and Estonia, it was not affected by the world economic crisis that began in 1929. During the period of occupation of the USSR, the GDP per capita increased, but a large part of the added value created by the GDP was used outside the territory of Lithuania and did not contribute to the well-being of the Lithuanian population. After independence, economic transformation was overcome, GDP per capita increased until the global economic crisis (2008), after two years of decline, rapid growth continued.
