DESCRIPTION:
This dataset contains data on ethnic composition of population in Estonia in 1922-2017 according to the Nomenclature of Territorial Units for Statistics codes of Estonia, status 2020 (NUTS:EST). In the interwar period, the ethnic composition remained almost unchanged. During the Second World War, Germans repatriated from Latvia to Germany, Jews were killed in the Holocaust. During the period of Soviet occupation, the number of Russians increased significantly as a result of immigration. After the restoration of independence, the share of Estonians increased slightly.
