DESCRIPTION:
This dataset contains data on number of population in Latvia in 1920-2020 according to the Nomenclature of Territorial Units for Statistics codes of Latvia, status 2020 (NUTS:LV). The data show the negative impact of the Second World War, the rapid increase in the population of Riga during the occupation of the USSR, the decrease of the population in the regions of Latvia after 1992 (except Pierīga). Since 1940, the population has decreased the most in the east of Latvia - Latgale.
