DESCRIPTION:
This dataset contains data on number of pigs in Latvia in 1920-2020 according to the Nomenclature of Territorial Units for Statistics codes of Latvia, status 2020 (NUTS:LV). The number of pigs doubled during the interwar period. After a decrease in numbers during the First World War and Sovietization, it increased from the late 1950s. The number of pigs reached its peak in the early 1980s, thanks to imported fodder. In 2020, the number of pigs is three times smaller than in 1939.
